Like in a real garden, the receding greenery is created in the background fabric peeking out of the black top fabric. And the blossom-dots pop because they are appliquéd. When you do it by machine, it takes no time at all.

1- 7” x 7” square and 1 – 3” x 3 ½” square Soft Fuse (iron-on fusible)
Terial Magic or other fabric stabilizer
scraps for appliqué accents (blossom-dots)
Threads for machine stitching (SAME COLORS as top & appliqué fabrics)
5 safety pins or straight pins for pin basting
Mechanical pencil for tracing pattern onto paper side of fusible
1 pair small, sharp scissors
Sewing machine that has a zig-zag stitch & open toed sewing machine foot (Student must provide)
New, sharp sewing machine needle (bring extras)
Practice piece: 1 - 12” x 12” square of top fabric; 1 – 12” x 12” square of contrasting background fabric; 1 – 12” x 12” square of Soft Fuse (iron-on fusible;, thread that matches top fabric; Terial Magic spray-on stabilizer or 1 - 12” x 12” square of add-in stabilizer
