Ships Ahoy Medallion XX
Ships Ahoy Medallion XX
Set Sail in the Fresh Breezes
Difficulty: Beginner
Applique pattern with Machine piecing – Hand & Machine directions
Pattern includes hand and machine directions
(33" x 33")
Let your soul sail free as you stitch Ships Ahoy Medallion by hand or machine applique. It was inspired by decades of sailing on Lake Champlain with my father, who owned a Cape Cod Knock-About in my younger years. Then he and my Mom sailed the lake in a Tanzer-22 in their twilight years doing weekend overnights. Make 4 different applique sailboats…a Clipper Ship, a Cape Cod Knock-About, a Tanzer-22 and a 3-masted Schooner. Then frame it with square-in-a-square blocks, giving it on-point dynamics and 4 anchor corner blocks. It’s a pattern aimed towards the beginning level stitcher, whether you desire to make it by hand or machine, constructed with 12” and 3” blocks.
This pattern was originally designed in the Resort fabric collection by Banyan Batiks.
Make as a wall-hanging or get creative and use this pattern as the center medallion of a quilt of your own design. Other ideas: excerpt each sailboat block to make a pillow or pillow sham to decorate your home to feel the fresh breezes blowing through your home all summer long.
This pattern is available as a digital PDF download as well.
