Molas are incredibly beautiful, colorful pieces made by the Kuna Indians of Panama. For the Kuna, molas are multi-layered reverse applique stitched by hand and used as garments. Learn about the Kuna, their home, lives, and the molas use in their culture. What are molas for a quilt-maker in the modern age? Learn how to think through and create a multi-layered design, and then to use Eye of the Beholder’s 4-step method to hand stitch it. We’ll explore the question can you make a mola by machine? And do you quilt molas? How? Find out the answers to these questions and more in Molas with a Modern Twist.
