Brighten your cooking experience or take a coffee break in style with these Mug Rugs - two patterns to choose from- Sunflower Swirl and Daisy Spiral. Each have a playful, dimensional feel sized 8” x 8” . This pattern gives you lots of making options so it’s also a great way to learn new techniques. Yardage on the pattern is to create 4 Potholders/Mug Rugs, so mix and match away.

Basic Techniques: Reverse Applique with Applique by hand or machine.

You can choose to make the Potholder/Mug Rug top in:

  • 2 fabric colors- reverse applique

  • 3 fabric colors- reverse applique with applique of an accent fabric

Directions are comprehensive, step-by-step leading you through the process whether you make yourpotholder/ mug rugs by hand or machine.

We designed ours in Island Batik’s new Cosmic fabric collection which will be in shops very soon, but these look darling in an array of fabrics. Want a kit? We have multiple colorways available on our website.

A Pattern PDF is a digital file of the complete pattern instructions and full-size pattern pieces.  You will also be emailed Welcome Notes.

After purchase, a link to the Pattern PDF will be sent to you automatically – click the link to get your pattern.  This link expires after 24 hours, but we can re-send it to you if you have any trouble. Just email us at admin@eobquiltdesign.com

  • This pattern booklet is 8.5” x 11” and can be printed on an in-home printer.

  • The full-size pattern pieces for this pattern print on 8.5” x 11” paper, so you can easily print it on an in-home printer. If you don’t have a printer transfer digital pattern to a USB stick and take to a copy shop for printing. Please be sure to print at FULL SIZE or ACTUAL SIZE.   • This will be an additional expense for you. However, a Pattern PDF is priced at 25% off the print pattern price because of this additional expense to you.

  • Please check in your area that you have a copy shop that can print the pattern for you before purchasing. PDF patterns are non-returnable/ non-refundable.

These were designed in the Vincent’s Garden collection by Island Batik, Fall 2020.

Yardage makes 4 Mug Rugs. Each Mug Rug finishes at 8 in. x 8 in.

Fabric for Top & Binding: :

  • 1 Fat Quarter - Dark Blue (sku: 122009570) - top fabric, all options

  • 1 Fat Quarter - Pale Yellow (sku: 122020199) - background fabric, all options

  • 1 Fat Quarter - Orange (sku: 122004370) -Binding, all options; applique-3 color

  • 1 Fat Eighth - Green (sku: 122007620) - undercolor leaves - 4 color option

  • 1 Fat Eighth - Yellow (sku: 122015100) - undercolor hives - 4 color option

  • backing fabric: 1 Fat Quarter (4 - 9” x 9” squares) - Dark Blue

  • Batting: 4 - 9” x 9” squares

For hand creation: Thread- Basting: button or hand quilting thread (12 wt.) in contrast color to top & applique fabrics; Applique: stitching thread in same color as top & applique fabrics; Needles- Basting: No. 7 Sharps; Applique: No. 11 Milliner's

For Machine creation:  Paper backed iron-on fusible, recommend Soft Fuse: 5 - 8" x 8" square; Thread- same color as top & applique fabrics; Terial Magic spray-on stabilizer or add-in stabilizer of choice; Open-toed sewing machine foot strongly recommended
